Description
Award-winning coach, Roy Gessford, shares insights on what he has learned in over 30 seasons of successful high school and collegiate coaching with players, parents, and coaches.
Gessford segments the season into three parts: Preparation, During the Season, and Post-Season. The questions for players, parents, and coaches at the end of each chapter will help them see the similarities between a team and a family. Coaches can learn from Gessfords’ years of surrounding himself with high level coaches and what he learned through trial and error as the most successful principles for coaching our youth. The foreword for A High School Tennis Coach’s Handbook was written by celebrated collegiate coach Dick Gould. Coach Gould recognized Gessford’s bugle call for a deeper level of thought to go into our high school team experiences and called Gessford’s book a “must read.” Coach Gould won 17 NCAA championships from 1966-2000 while at Stanford University. Coach Gould is currently the John L Hinds Director of Tennis at Stanford.
